1 What is HoppyGo?
HoppyGo is a service that brings vehicle owners together with drivers who want to rent a vehicle via a mobile application. HoppyGo enables safe vehicle sharing thanks to its partnership with insurance providers.
2 How are rental contracts managed?
Rental contracts are easily concluded using the HoppyGo application, via which vehicle owners agree with drivers on the period and subject of the rental. By means of the HoppyGo application, drivers can approve the total price, which is composed of the rental rate, the price of vehicle accident insurance for the rental period and the commission paid to the operator of HoppyGo. When registering, users of the HoppyGo application also agree to the business terms and conditions, insurance terms and conditions and the conditions associated with the processing of personal data.
3 Who's behind this service?
HoppyGo is operated by the commercial company Everest Group Prodej s.r.o., with its registered office at Zubatého 295/5, Prague 5, Identification no: 24850942, which is a subsidiary of Creative Dock s.r.o., a company which, among other things, focuses on promoting the sharing economy in the Czech Republic.
4 What is the sharing economy?
It is an economic model built on rental, bartering and sharing of assets directly between private individuals. Well-known forms of sharing assets in the Czech Republic include, for example, rental of real estate when the owner is not using it (Airbnb). The concept can work similarly with vehicles, which is exactly what the HoppyGo platform makes possible.
For vehicle owners
1 What do I need to do to register?
Download the HoppyGo application to your smartphone and fill in the required information in the “Add a car” section under “My Car”. We may call to verify your information and may request a copy of the registered vehicle’s registration certificate or power of attorney in the case that you are registering a vehicle of which you are not the direct owner.
2 Can HoppyGo deny registration of a vehicle?
Yes, we can deny your registration in the event that, for example, you do not provide proof that you are the owner or authorised user of the vehicle that you want to register. Another possible reason for denial of registration in the HoppyGo application is that the vehicle is more than 20 years old, which would violate a condition for obtaining accident insurance for the rental period via HoppyGo. We handle exceptions on an individual basis, for example in the case of vintage automobiles, for which we can arrange separate insurance.
3 In which case can a vehicle that is more than 20 years old be registered in HoppyGo?
If you own a vehicle that is more than 20 years old but is in excellent condition and you wish to rent it out via HoppyGo, please contact the HoppyGo operator by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org or by telephone at +420 212 812 277. In individual cases, we can arrange special accident insurance for vehicles that are more than 20 years old.
4 What can I do in the case that I am a vehicle’s authorised user but not its owner and I want to register it in the HoppyGo application?
In such a case, we will request that you submit a power of attorney by which the owner of the vehicle authorises you to use the vehicle and consents to its rental via the HoppyGo application.
5 How many vehicles can I register in the HoppyGo application?
Our accident insurance policy covers a maximum of five vehicles registered by a single owner in the HoppyGo application.
6 What should I do if I need to use my vehicle for my own purposes but I do not want to reject requests from drivers?
At times when you need to use your vehicle for your own purposes, please designate your vehicle as inactive in the application. Or you can indicate in advance in the calendar the days on which your vehicle will be unavailable. You will thus not receive requests from drivers to use your vehicle during those times. In the application, drivers request only vehicles that are available, which prevents misunderstandings of this nature.
7 How does the handover of a rented vehicle to a driver work?
Before handing over the vehicle, you will inspect the vehicle together with the driver. If you and the driver agree on rental of the vehicle following the inspection, the driver will photograph the vehicle, including any visible damage, according to the instructions in the application. At the time of handover, the driver will upload all photographs and information on the vehicle’s condition (including the odometer reading) to the handover protocol in the application. The driver will confirm handover of the vehicle in his/her account in the application and, at the same time, thus give an instruction to block the basic rental rate on his/her payment card. Conclusion of the rental contract occurs at the given moment when you agree to the rental of your vehicle to the driver and you hand the keys and vehicle documentation to the driver. The actual conclusion of the rental contract occurs after the driver confirms handover of the vehicle via the application and the basic price of vehicle rental is blocked on the driver’s account. If the driver does not confirm to you that the rental contract has been concluded in the application, the driver may not leave with your vehicle.
8 What should I pay attention to when handing over the vehicle?
When handing over the rented vehicle to the driver, we recommend that you have the driver show you his/her driving license and check its period of validity and verify the driver’s class-B authorisation to operate motor vehicles. In the event that you have the impression that the driver is not qualified to drive, please contact the HoppyGo customer service.
9 How much fuel should I leave in the vehicle?
How much petrol/diesel/LPG or electric charge is in the vehicle at the time of handover depends entirely on an agreement between the owner and the driver. We recommended that vehicles be handed over and returned with a full tank, as such fuel status is easiest to verify.
10 What should I do if the driver forgets something in the rented vehicle?
In the event that the driver forgets something in the rented vehicle, it suffices to write an e-mail to email@example.com and we will resolve the situation for you. You can also contact the driver directly.
11 Can I cancel my registration in the HoppyGo application?
Though that would surely make us very sad, you can cancel your registration in the application by deactivating your profile and sending a confirmation e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org, or by calling or sending an SMS to +420 212 812 277. Of course, we would greatly appreciate it if you tell us why you decided to cancel your registration. All user responses help us to improve HoppyGo services.
12 What should I do if the driver puts the wrong fuel in my vehicle?
If the driver mistakenly puts the wrong fuel in your vehicle (diesel instead of petrol or vice versa – in the case that the fuel pump did not prevent that) and he/she is unable to prevent damage from occurring and, for example, realises the error and has the fuel improperly siphoned, then the driver is responsible for any damage thus caused to the vehicle and is obligated to compensate you for such damage.
13 From when is my car insured?
Your car is insured at the moment the driver confirms takeover of the car in the application. From the moment, the driver is responsible for the operation of the vehicle. You as the owner remain responsible for the technical condition of the vehicle. In case there is an insurance incident and it is determined that the cause was poor technical condition of the car, insurance will not pay for the repair and you would not be paid for the rental.
1 What do I need to do to register?
Download the HoppyGo application on your smartphone and fill in the required information in the “Registration” section. There are just a few limitations to register, you have to be at least 21 years old and have had a your driving license for more than one year.
2 Can HoppyGo deny my registration?
Yes, HoppyGo’s operator can deny a driver’s registration in the case that, for example, the driver is under the age of 21 or has not had a driving license for at least one year. HoppyGo’s operator also reserves the right to deny registration or cancel the existing registration of a driver who, for example, has breached the HoppyGo Code of conduct. We believe that HoppyGo is a service that brings good people together and thus such measures will not be necessary.
3 Can I cancel my registration in the HoppyGo application?
Though that would surely make us very sad, you can cancel your registration in the application by deactivating your profile and sending a confirmation e-mail to email@example.com, or by calling or sending an SMS to +420 792 480 056. Of course, we would greatly appreciate it if you tell us why you decided to cancel your registration. All user responses help us to improve HoppyGo services.
4 How can I find and rent a vehicle?
First enter the information on when and where you want to rent a vehicle in the HoppyGo application. Then choose from the options that the application offers you. If there are several available vehicles that meet your requirements, you can contact more owners, thus raising the probability that you will get a vehicle to rent when you need it. If a vehicle owner is tentatively interested in renting his/her vehicle to you, he/she will confirm that interest via the application. Via the HoppyGo application, you will then agree with the interested vehicle owner on the details, especially the specific time and place for handing over the vehicle.
5 How does the handover/takeover of a rented vehicle work?
Prior to handover of the vehicle, you will inspect the vehicle together with the owner. If you and the owner agree on rental of the vehicle following the inspection, you will photograph the vehicle according to the instructions in the application. Please ensure that the vehicle is properly photographed and is visible in the photographs, including all obvious signs of damage. This concerns your safety. At the time of handover, you will upload the photographs and information on the vehicle’s condition (including a description of any obvious signs of damage and the odometer reading) to the handover protocol in the application. The vehicle owner agrees to the rental of the vehicle under the predefined conditions by handing over the keys and vehicle documentation to the driver. You will confirm handover of the vehicle in your account in the application and, at the same time, thus issue an instruction to block the basic rental price on your payment card. Conclusion of the rental contract occurs at the given moment when the owner agrees to the rental of his/her vehicle and hands the keys and vehicle documentation to you. The actual conclusion of the rental contract occurs upon your confirmation of the handover of the vehicle via the application and blocking of the basic price of vehicle rental on your account. If conclusion of the rental contract in the application is not confirmed to you and to the owner, you may not leave with the vehicle.
6 What should I pay attention to when taking over the vehicle?
When taking over the rental vehicle, the application will guide you through the individual steps that you have to perform. Among other things, you will take photographs of the vehicle from all sides. If there is any visible damage to the vehicle that may hinder its safe operation, you can document it with additional photographs. If you have the impression that the vehicle is not safe to operate, please contact our customer care. Also, please agree with the owner regarding the fuel level.
7 Are there any sanctions connected with the driver’s cancellation of an order?
If you cancel your confirmed rental less than three days before the agreed time of handover, you will pay 30% of the agreed basic rental rate. If the order is cancelled less than 24 hours prior, you will pay 70% of the agreed rental rate. This does not apply if, during the handover of the vehicle, you determine that the vehicle is in bad technical condition or does not correspond to the conditions to which you agreed with the owner prior to taking over the vehicle. Until you confirm the rental offer from the owner, the owner can cancel your rental at any time.
8 What should I do if I forget something in the rented vehicle?
In the event that you forget something in the rented vehicle, it’s enough to send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will resolve the situation for you. You can also contact the owner directly.
9 What should I do if I put the wrong type of fuel in the vehicle?
If you put the wrong type of fuel in the rented vehicle (diesel instead of petrol or vice versa) and thus cause damage to the vehicle, you will be obligated to compensate the vehicle owner in full for the cost of the damage.
10 What should I do if I receive a summons to pay a fine for a traffic violation that occurred during the rental period after termination of the rental?
Please contact us as soon as you find out that a traffic violation was committed at the time the driver was driving your vehicle that was rented via HoppyGo. We will provide to the investigating institution information about the driver who was in possession of your vehicle at the time of the violation.
1 What kind of insurance is provided and what does it include?
The operator of HoppyGo has concluded an accident insurance policy with the insurer Allianz. The insurance covers accidents, natural disasters, theft, vandalism and damage/destruction caused by animals. Beyond standard accident insurance, insurance against misappropriation and fraud has also been arranged. The insurance is activated with each rental of a vehicle and terminates with the return of the given vehicle to its owner.
2 What are the general terms and conditions for having a vehicle insured on the basis of the accident insurance policy arranged by the operator of HoppyGo?
The vehicle may not be more than 20 years old and must be roadworthy in accordance with the legal regulations of the Czech Republic in force. The vehicle’s owner has entered all necessary technical data pertaining to the vehicle in the HoppyGo application and, as the case may be, has submitted the vehicle’s certificate of roadworthiness at the request of HoppyGo’s operator. However, in the case of any doubt, the operator of HoppyGo reserves the right to cancel the vehicle’s registration in the HoppyGo application.
3 What to do in case of an accident?
Depending on the severity of the accident, you should first consider calling the Police of the Czech Republic and the rescue services and, as the case may be, the fire department. In all cases, take photographs of any damage that may have occurred. Report the insured event also to the HoppyGo customer service at +420 212 812 277 so that the operator of HoppyGo can provide all necessary information to Allianz.
4 How high is the accident insurance deductible?
The renter/driver’s deductible in the case of accident insurance is CZK 5,000. In the case of an insured event that occurs while the vehicle is being driven by a person who is not the renter listed in the policyholder’s database, the accident insurance deductible is increased to CZK 10,000.
5 How much does accident insurance cost?
Accident insurance is include d in the price of the rental. It ranges from CZK 74 to CZK 495 per calendar day depending on the current market value of the vehicle.
6 And what about third-party liability insurance for damage caused by operation of a vehicle?
Every vehicle owner is required by law to have third-party liability insurance for damage caused by operation of the vehicle. If the vehicle owner does not have such insurance, he/she cannot offer his/her vehicle on HoppyGo.
1 1. What is included in the rental rate for each car?
The price you see in the search results of the app is the total price you will pay for the period searched. The price includes the service fee paid to HoppyGo and the cost of accident insurance, which ranges from CZK 74 to CZK 495 per calendar day depending on the value of the given vehicle.
2 2. As the owner, how should I set the vehicle rental rate?
We recommend setting the rental rate with respect to the age and condition of the vehicle. We add a 20% service fee and the relevant accident insurance costs. We will gladly advise you with respect to setting the rental rate by telephone at +420 212 812 277 or by e-mail at email@example.com.
3 3. Can I subsequently change the price of my car?
Yes, you can change the rental rate at any time. Lowering the rental rate can immediately increase your vehicle’s appeal and increase how often you rent your car.
